Sweetgrass Workshop- Oct. 25

Join us for learning the craft of sweetgrass weaving with Henrietta Snype. In this two hour workshop, you will learn the history of sweetgrass weaving and create your very own sweetgrass creation.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn from the very best!

Henrietta Snype is a true artist and master of sweetgrass basket weaving, deeply dedicated to preserving and teaching this cherished Gullah tradition. Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, SC, she learned the art of basket weaving at age seven from her mother and grandmother, continuing a legacy that traces back to her African ancestors. After pursuing a career in business, Henrietta realized the cultural importance of her heritage and began teaching sweetgrass weaving in the 1980s. Today, she travels the world, sharing her craft through workshops and demonstrations. Henrietta’s work has been exhibited in prestigious museums, including the Smithsonian, and she is a passionate advocate for passing this tradition to future generations.
